Hamburg among northern Europe's leading, most innovative cities
Hamburg is among the winners of the European Capital of Innovation Award (I-Capital Award) presented Tuesday (November 6, 2018) during the International Web Summit in Lisbon. Athens came first and won EUR 1 million in prize money while the remaining finalists – Aarhus, Leuven, Toulouse, Umea and Hamburg received EUR 100,000 each.
Hamburg announced as host of CAPA’s Low Cost Long Haul Global Summit 2019
CAPA – Centre for Aviation, the world’s most trusted source of market intelligence for the aviation and travel industry, is pleased to announce Hamburg, Germany as Host of the second annual CAPA Low Cost Long Haul Global Summit. This summit is the only aviation event in the world dedicated to the strategic and commercial outlook for a key frontier of low cost travel: long haul sectors. Emirates A380 touches down in Hamburg

How airlines continued to thrive in 2017 despite challenges
Airlines continued to expand and kept a grip on their improved profitability off the back of strong air travel demand in 2017, even if the positive mood was punctuated by a series of high-profile challenges and service interruptions that dominated headlines. This Flightglobal report looks back on an interesting year in aviation.
Airline start-ups and failures 2017
78 new airlines have been started so far in 2017, with just 25 going out of business in the same period. Anna.aero have put together interesting lists, not just for Europe but the rest of the world, too.
Companies in Hamburg satisfied with business at present
Around 87.5 per cent of companies in Hamburg rate their current business situation as “good” (38.4 per cent) or “seasonal” (49.1 per cent) and only 12.5 per cent as “bad”, according to the latest economic barometer by the Chamber of Commerce. Although uncertainties in foreign trade are increasing, export prospects have improved slightly over the previous quarter.
Hamburg among world's most promising digital cities
Hamburg counts among the world’s ten most successful cities in terms of promoting companies in the digital economy, according to the Digital Economy of the Future Rankings by the Financial Times publication fDi Magazine, which specialises in foreign direct investments. Hamburg ranked ninth in the “settlement strategy” category. Hamburg was the only German city to reach the top ten.
Hamburg still most attractive media city
Hamburg remains the most popular city in Germany among media workers and has risen over figures in 2017. Some 32 per cent of those surveyed found the Hanseatic city to be the most attractive. Berlin ranked third with fewer votes (16 per cent), slightly behind Munich with 16 per cent, according to the Media Yorker Report 2018.

Hamburg Christmas markets
27 November - 30 December, 2018
Discover history, tradition and a Hanseatic heritage at one of Hamburg's many wonderful Christmas markets. The prettiest is set just outside Hamburg's most impressive town hall. Hosted by Roncalli's Circus, you can discover lots of lovingly decorated stalls and the punch is even served by clowns and circus artists. But there are a variety of other 'styles' of market dotted around the city.
Aircraft Interiors Expo

The global market leader for the world's aircraft interiors industry, Aircraft Interiors Expo is the launch pad for cabin programs, showcasing tomorrow's designs, in-flight entertainment, connectivity and passenger services.

Around 25,000 athletes and more than 750,000 spectators from all over the world gather every year for Germany's largest spring marathon. Its course leads past Hamburg's top sights - and the event has only seen very little rain since its inauguration over 30 years ago.

The Port of Hamburg is honoured each year with a big birthday party - the world's largest port festival. It has a long tradition in Hamburg and is very popular with locals and visitors alike.
Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival
The Japanese cherry blossom festival with firework display is being held on the Outer Alster since 1968. This gift from the Japanese community to the City of Hamburg brings hundreds of thousands of people to the Alster every year.
