Emirates A380 touches down in Hamburg
Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, today expanded the network of destinations served by its highly-popular Airbus flagship aircraft with the launch of the first and only scheduled commercial A380 service into Hamburg.
Hamburg Airport presents 2018/19 winter timetable
The new winter timetable comes into effect at Hamburg Airport on 28 October 2018. It is valid until 30 March 2019. For the 2018/2019 winter season, the airlines are focussing on winter sun destinations, but there are also ski resorts in the timetable. Two destinations, Agadir and Friedrichshafen, are returning to Hamburg’s route network. On another seven routes, passengers will now have the choice of additional airlines. A total of around 60 airlines fly from Hamburg to approximately 140 destinations.
New allocation of airlines to Terminals 1 and 2
As part of a new terminal plan at Hamburg Airport, several airlines will be changing terminal during the night of 18 to 19 September. As of 19 September, passengers on these airlines can only check in and drop off bags in the respective newly assigned terminal. Passengers are requested to find out in advance which terminal their airline is using, and to travel to the airport early enough to find their way.

Enthusiasm for Hamburg unabated
Hamburg’s tourism sector has reported a 6.2 per cent increase in overnight stays (15.4 million) last year, according to the Northern Statistics Office. Hamburg Tourismus GmbH can also look back on record corporate results with a 16 per cent growth in turnover driven mainly by reorientation including a new sales and digital strategy.
Hamburg Messe und Congress expecting record turnover in 2020
Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC) can look back on a successful year 2019 with 73 events, 696,749 visitors, annual turnover of EUR 67.3 million euros, two new trade fair debuts and the highly-acclaimed Rotary International Convention with many visitors. "We are expecting around 60 events and sales of EUR 114 million in 2020 making for a new record,” said Bernd Aufderheide, Chairman of the HMC Management Board.
Boost for Hamburg's economy
The Hamburg economy is off to a far better start in 2020 than last autumn, according to the Chamber of Commerce’s economic barometer. Expansive investment and personnel planning, more exports and positive views of the current and future business situation are the reasons for the positive development.

Christopher Street Day - cancelled

Pride week with a three-day street festival in city center. The parade on the closing weekend, which was attended by 180,000 people last year, marks the highlight of this colourful event.
Wacken Open Air - cancelled

Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) is a summer open-air heavy metal music festival with approx. 90,000 annual visitors.The international festival has a unique rate of foreigners of over 30%, with up to 10% non-Europeans, from about 30-40 different countries all around the world. Many metal fans travel around half the globe just to stand on cow meadows before stages of Wacken in the middle of nowhere 80 km northwest of Hamburg.
Beatles Festival - to be postponed
15-16 August, 2020
60 years ago, the Beatles gave their first concert in Hamburg, which marked the start of their incredible career. This anniversary will be celebrated throughout 2020. The kick-off is a three-day festival from 27 to 29 March. Various artists and bands will remind us of the music and spirit of the Fab Four. The unique festival programme in Hamburg will range from concerts to exhibitions, readings and much more.
ITU World Triathlon
4-5 September, 2020
The Hamburg Triathlon has been a mainstay of the triathlon calendar for pros and amateurs alike since 2002, when it was accepted into the Triathlon ITU World Championship Series, thus joining an exclusive circle of eight iconic venues around the globe.

Around 25,000 athletes and more than 750,000 spectators from all over the world gather every year for Germany's largest spring marathon. Its course leads past Hamburg's top sights - and the event has only seen very little rain since its inauguration over 30 years ago.
