Successful partnership between Hamburg Airport and United
Today, the 1-millionth passenger on the route from Hamburg to the New York hub of Newark Liberty International was welcomed at Hamburg Airport. The successful long-haul route has been operated by the US carrier, United Airlines, since 10 June, 2005. The lucky 1-millionth passenger on the route was Annemarie Kotte from Hamburg. The jubilee guest was congratulated by Alexander Laukenmann, Managing Director of Hamburg Airport, and Sead Odobasic, Station Manager of United Airlines in Hamburg. Since the launch of the route between Hamburg and New York Newark, one million passengers have travelled on a total of 7,122 flights.
Air Serbia celebrates maiden flight from Hamburg to Belgrade
A new airline has joined the fold at Hamburg Airport as of today: Air Serbia. Today, the Serbian carrier celebrates the maiden flight on its new route from Hamburg to the Serbian capital, Belgrade. Belgrade is returning to Hamburg Airport's route network after a long absence, giving passengers an even greater choice of destinations in eastern Europe. Flights to Belgrade are operated four times per week, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Departure times from Hamburg are 10:30 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday, and 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday.
Hamburg Airport officially presents modern airfreight facility
he modern infrastructure, located on Weg beim Jaeger, can handle up to 150,000 tonnes of freight each year - more than double the volume handled in 2015. Hamburg Airport is thus optimally positioned for the future. Costing more than 50 million euros, the new facility is replacing the existing cargo terminal from the 1960s.

Hamburg planning "Science Center"
Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, noted: “Together with the University and DESY, we want to dedicate an entire city district to science over the next few years. We are developing a centre for basic research and applied science, an incubator for innovation and technology transfer in Science City Bahrenfeld. At the same time, attractive apartments and recreational areas for students, scientists and creative people will be created in the district.”
Hamburg ranked among world's top cities for jobseekers
Hamburg is considered one of the most attractive cities for jobseekers worldwide, according to a survey by Movinga. The Hanseatic city ranked fourth out of 100 locations. Compared to other German cities, Hamburg scored mainly in terms of total employment and disposable income.
Hamburg among northern Germany's leading most innovative cities
Hamburg is among the winners of the European Capital of Innovation Award (I-Capital Award) presented Tuesday (November 6, 2018) during the International Web Summit in Lisbon. Athens came first and won EUR 1 million in prize money while the remaining finalists – Aarhus, Leuven, Toulouse, Umea and Hamburg received EUR 100,000 each.
