Wizz Air launching five new destinations from Hamburg
Wizz Air is resuming flight operations from Hamburg Airport, just in time for the summer holiday period. Starting at the beginning of July, the airport connects Hamburg with three destinations never before seen in the airport’s timetable. As of 3 July, Wizz Air flies twice a week to Lviv in Ukraine. The airline is also opening a new route to Chișinău in Moldova from 16 July, and to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, from 17 July. There will be two flights per week to Chișinău and three to Belgrade. From 24 July, Wizz Air will also operate two weekly flights to Tirana in Albania. Furthermore, the airline is expanding its existing service to Bucharest, with four flights per week to the Romanian capital from 9 August.
Hamburg Airport: stable traffic figures in a difficult market environment
For 2019, Hamburg Airport recorded stable passenger figures at a constant high level. The year was characterised by a difficult market environment. Increasing cost pressure and a weakening economy led to the insolvency of established airlines and tour operators. At the same time, Hamburg’s route network remains diverse and passengers want to travel as much as ever. For 2020, the airport expects the consolidation of traffic numbers to continue.
Alitalia to fly from Hamburg Airport to Milan
For the start of the 2020 summer timetable, Alitalia is opening a scheduled route from Hamburg Airport: From 29 March 2020, the Italian airline will connect Hamburg with Milan Linate airport on a daily flight. With its inner-city location, the Alitalia hub of Milan Linate is ideal for business travellers, who benefit from the short journey to the centre of Milan.
