Hamburg Airport investing in personnel, digitalisation and infrastructure
Hamburg Airport today presented its balance sheet for the 2018 financial year. The challenges of the summer and the slight decrease in passenger figures shaped the past year. In 2018, the airport was focused on passengers: with optimised infrastructure, modernised security checkpoints and new self-bag-drop kiosks, Hamburg Airport invested in even more efficiency and comfort. At the same time, there are even more personnel available on-site to assist passengers.
Ryanair celebrates inaugural flights from Hamburg to Zadar and Kraków
For the start of the 2019 summer timetable, Ryanair is adding two new destinations that, until now, have not been served with direct flights from Hamburg Airport. Yesterday, the airline celebrated its inaugural flight to Zadar on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The airline now flies there twice a week, every Monday and Friday. Today, the inaugural Ryanair flight to Kraków followed. There will be three flights each week on this route, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
New airline in Hamburg: LEVEL celebrates inaugural flight to Vienna
A new airline celebrated its inaugural flight from Hamburg Airport yesterday evening: LEVEL (Anisec). The low-cost brand of International Airlines Group (IAG) is now flying to Vienna six times per week — every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. This schedule makes the service equally attractive for both business and private passengers. The route is being operated with 180-seat A320 aircraft.

New York Times counts Hamburg among "52 Places to Go"

The New York Times has ranked Hamburg tenth among “52 Places to Go” in 2017, according to a report last Wednesday (January 4) in which the Hanse city is described as “a haven for architecture and design”. The imminent opening of the city’s latest landmark, the Elbphilharmonie, has led to Hamburg’s inclusion and as the only German city in the ranking. Detroit, Michigan came ninth and is lauded as a “comeback city”. Hamburg is followed by Morocco’s Marrakesh, which has been hailed as a “spiritual resting place”. Canada topped the ranking as a “world to explore”.
Cruise ship year 2017 underway
Harbour festivals, new arrivals and a launching ceremony - 2017 set to be record year with 800,000 expected passengers
Cunard Line’s “Queen Elizabeth” will ring in the 2017 cruise ship season in Hamburg when it arrives in Altona at 7 am on January 5. This year, Hamburg is heading for record numbers with around 800,000 expected passengers. The many highlights include the port anniversary celebrations and the Hamburg Cruise Days as well as the launch of huge liners like Norwegian Jade, Mein Schiff 6, and Independence of the Seas, MSC Preziosa and Silver Wind. Another highlight is the launch of “Mein Schiff 6” on June 1, 2017.
Culture, tourism and sport get EUR 13.3 million in funds
Culture and tourism tax revenue to go towards attractivity measures - "classic win-win situation", says Horch The senate has agreed to put additional revenue from the culture and tourism tax towards promoting and securing projects in culture, tourism, sport and media, the Economic Authority announced on December 29, 2016. A total of EUR 13.3 million has been made available for such measures in 2017. The Hamburg culture and tourism tax has been in place since January 1, 2013.
