Hamburg Airport presents the 2018 summer timetable
Around 60 airlines fly to 130 destinations. The airlines are focussing their attention for the 2018 summer season on sun and swimming destinations along with major cities throughout Europe. Eight completely new destinations are joining Hamburg’s route network: Ljubljana, Zakynthos, Jersey, Trieste, Bilbao, Kayseri, Samos and Bergen. On another eight routes, passengers will now have the choice of additional airlines.
Hamburg Airport once again “Best Regional Airport Europe”
Following on from victories in 2011, 2012 and 2017, Hamburg Airport has won the renowned Skytrax World Airport Award in the “Best Regional Air-port Europe” category for the fourth time. Skytrax defines a “Regional Air-port” as any airport that primarily offers domestic and intracontinental flights with a few intercontinental services. The prize, awarded exclusively on the basis of independent passenger surveys, was presented on 21 March at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Stockholm.
United Airlines departs from “Knuffingen Airport” at Miniatur Wunderland
US carrier United Airlines has now stationed a Boeing 757-200 at “Knuffingen Airport” at Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg. The aircraft has now set off on its maiden flight. A video of the event is available at https://youtu.be/qF2cIbmzSsg.
The US airline has a close relationship with the city. Since 2005, United has operated a non-stop service from Hamburg to Newark Liberty International Airport. The seasonal daily service will resume on 26 April, 2018.

Hamburg on show at Hanover Fair
The Hanseatic city is hosting a joint stand at the Hanover Fair from April 23-27, 2018 with scientific institutes and technology transfer facilities among the main exhibitors. Katharina Fegebank, Deputy Mayor of Hamburg, who is due to attend the fair, noted: “A location’s future lies in research and innovation as well as in good collaboration between science and commerce. We have achieved plenty in Hamburg in recent years.”
Germany's Udo Lindenberg opens his "Panik City"
One of Germany’s most popular rock stars, Udo Lindenberg, opened his spectacular “Panik City” Tuesday (March 20, 2018) on the Reeperbahn in St. Pauli. The Klubhaus St. Pauli houses “Panik City” with the Udo Lindenberg Experience spanning 700 square metres and featuring a multimedia world of experience. Virtual reality and augmented reality technology are used in the art and culture project to sketch the rock star’s life from his birthplace, Gronau, to Likörelle, his musical career and political activism.
40,000 visitors expected at Online Marketing Rockstars 2018
Over 40,000 marketing aficionados are expected at this year’s Online Marketing Rockstars Festival from March 22-23 in the Hamburg Convention Centre. The organisers are expecting a clear rise in visitor numbers over 2017 and are promising prospects and anecdotes about all the latest marketing issues. The festival and expo serves as a platform for established firms and aspiring start-ups. The OMR conference is a regular highlight and presents many international speakers from all kinds of backgrounds.

Around 25,000 athletes and more than 750,000 spectators from all over the world gather every year for Germany's largest spring marathon. Its course leads past Hamburg's top sights - and the event has only seen very little rain since its inauguration over 30 years ago.

The Port of Hamburg is honoured each year with a big birthday party - the world's largest port festival. It has a long tradition in Hamburg and is very popular with locals and visitors alike.
Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival
The Japanese cherry blossom festival with firework display is being held on the Outer Alster since 1968. This gift from the Japanese community to the City of Hamburg brings hundreds of thousands of people to the Alster every year.
